Wash your hands first with Anti-bacterial Liquid soap (non-scented) between fingers, under nails, and scrub for 30 seconds.
Wash your tattoo with warm water and Anti-bacterial liquid soap (non-scented)[ex: dial liquid soap]. Lather your hands with the soap first and then proceed to apply onto the skin.
Pat dry with clean disposable paper towel and let air dry completely.
For the first 3 days, you will only wash your tattoo twice (2X) a day with anti-bacterial liquid soap (non-scented) and dry it, if the tattoo was exposed to something unsanitary throughout the day, you may wash it more than twice in a day. Do not apply any ointment or moisturizer onto the tattoo for first 2-3 days.
after 3 days, You may now apply paper-thin layer of tattoo aftercare or non-scented lotion (ex: lubriderm, cetaphil..the thinner the better) and use 1-2 times a day when your tattoo is dry. Allow the tattoo to breathe as well and do not over moisturize. follow this routine for the next 2-3 weeks while the tattoo is healing.
Wear clean, soft and loose clothing/jewelry over your tattoo for the first 2 weeks – nothing abrasive or irritating.
When tattoo will itch and peel/scab, pat the tattoo gently. Do not scratch or pick at the scabs, allow them to fall off on their own.
Tattoos tend to take 2-3 weeks to heal and 4-8 weeks to settle in the skin and be sun-ready. After a full month of healing use SPF 50 sunscreen when tattoo is exposed to sunlight or when you go on vacation, use non-alcohol based sunscreen five (5) times a day, do not use spray-on sunscreens as this will dull your tattoo over time.
Avoid direct Sunlight, hot tubs, saunas, pools, tanning booths and keep your showers short and not extremely hot for first 2 weeks after getting the tattoo. Try not to excessively sweat with fresh tattoo as the sweat may cause irritation and burning, and try to avoid working out the tattooed area for 2 weeks, allow tattoo to heal and start settling in your skin.
Protect your Artwork. Keep your tattoo away from any unsanitary environment until fully healed. Once the tattoo leaves the shop, it's up to you to take care of your art and body!
FAQs
How do i set up an appointment?
Fill out the “Book Appointment” form first. During the consultation process, we will discuss your idea, your connection to the tattoo, the style of art you would like your piece to be, roughly how long the tattoo may take to complete, an estimated quote for the piece. Whenever you feel comfortable, we can then book a tattoo appointment. To lock in a time and date for the session, a deposit link will be E-mailed to you from one of our shop booking managers. The 50% deposit is non-refundable and will be used towards the total cost of the tattoo session. If the tattoo will take multiple sessions to complete, each session would require a separate deposit. You may also discuss a payment plan with our booking managers.
Cancellation / Rescheduling?
Please notify via e-mail 48 hours in advance to your appointment time and date in order to cancel & re-schedule your appointment for the deposit to remain valid. No-Shows will lose their deposit indefinitely. If you cancel / reschedule two times (2x), you will lose the deposit for that tattoo. Artists work really hard to dedicate time for your tattoo session, if you don't give us sufficient amount of time to reschedule and fill that time slot, it makes it very difficult for us and may potentially lose a day of work.
May I see the design before my appointment?
Your design will be viewed on the day of the appointment. Any changes that need to be made will be done at that time. If an extended amount of time is needed to re-work the design with your feedback, the appointment will just be moved and deposit would still be valid. This is to avoid people taking the artwork elsewhere and for many other reasons. It takes time to make a unique design, sometimes several hours. We will discuss your idea thoroughly during your consultation so the art will reflect our vision as best as possible. If you are traveling from another country or out of state and will be in NYC for only a limited amount of time, we can accommodate you and provide a rough draft of the design earlier than our appointment date. Nothing gets tattooed on you until you are absolutely happy and satisfied with the design.
How old do i need to be to get tattooed?
New York State law requires you to be at least 18 years of age to be tattooed. Please bring a valid government issued photo Identification with you to your appointment.
Safety?
Importance of preventing cross contamination is top priority! Fully disposable: ALL ink, needles, and materials used for a client are thrown out after each session. Station is disinfected and cleaned between each tattoo. Brand new supplies are used on every new client.
Touch-ups?
If you take good care of your tattoos and follow the aftercare instructions properly, you shouldn't need a touch up. Only the best quality tattoo supplies and equipment are used on your skin. If a touch up will be necessary, it may only be done at least 1 month after the initial application of the tattoo. To schedule a touch-up, E-mail a clear photo of the tattoo currently and we will set up a date. Please note the free touch-up ‘window’ will expire after 3 months.
tattoo over a scar?
In most cases you can, but the scar needs to be fully healed and at least 3 years old.
Donate blood?
You may not donate blood for 1 full year after getting a tattoo.
Is my tattoo infected?
If you think your tattoo might be infected, don't wait for it to get worse! Signs of infection: severe pain, hot redness, swelling, a pus discharge (with or without the presence of blood), and/or a foul odor emanating from the area. Infection that is not properly tended to can result in serious health consequences. Please see your doctor immediately and notify the artist. Staph infections can occur since the bacteria present on our bodies makes us prone to infections, especially with a newly inked tattoo. Most tattoo infections are caused by not taking proper care during the healing process.
